First Explanation in Writing As To Why USFS Is Closing Privately-Funded Parks

From our shutdown order:

Congress has not provided appropriations for fiscal year 2014.  Pursuant to applicable legal requirements in the Antideficiency Act and Attorney General opinions addressing agency operations in the absence of appropriations, the Forest Service is unable to administer federally-owned recreation facilities.  Consequently these facilities will be shut down and posted accordingly with signs provided, with gates locked where they exist, restrooms locked, and water systems shut down.   Visitors in occupied sites would be given 48 hours to vacate, with the area shut down as the last visitor leaves, not to exceed 48 hours.

In other words, we pay all the bills, run the parks in an independent manner, have no USFS people stationed in the parks, but we have to shut down because the Forest Service can no longer "administer" the facilities.  Huh?  What day-to-day administration is necessary.  Remember that the USFS itself did not think their presence was necessary, originally confirming on Tuesday that we would stay open as we had in all past shutdowns.

We often go weeks and months in these facilities without ever seeing a USFS manager.  The USFS considers it so important to have staff available to "administer" these facilities that none of their recreation personnel work on weekends or on holidays, by far and away the busiest and most difficult times in these facilities.

PS-  I see the part about the Attorney General.  Did Eric Holder decide to close us?  Doesn't he know that poor and minorities disproportionately use public vs. private recreation?  Isn't that a disparate impact issue in closing us?

Ah, I love "bipartisanship"

AKA, Democrats get their way and the Republicans cave.

Didn't take notes how we got 17+ Trillion in the hole, did you?

because the evil government cut him off in a way the contract allows them to.

In order to reduce their revenues in order to demand more tax dollars, you left out.

In other words: They're incapable of proper stewardship, which you are happy about, and yet you want to give them more power, control, and leverage.

... When they're demonstrating inability to handle what they've got now.

Here is the USFS contingency plans:

Not a word of what you said is true. ABC reported the event in it's entirety, with video, on the same day it happened.

The woman did nothing more provocative than turning the wrong way and bumping into matte black steel pylons blocking off what otherwise appears as a passable road. The White House Police responded with gunfire. Then used the pretext of the woman fleeing for her life as a reason to execute her.

They also advised that they were shutting down defense contracts, and inspectors for things like military aircraft production...even though those things had an already specifically-passed budget.

"By the way, from the reports that I have read, she had a gun and fired on the Capitol police after they boxed her vehicle in and before they fired on her."

Then you are reading reports from the Bizarro Planet News. There was no weapon at all, never mind a firearm, found in the car, and no fired casings identified that were not from the LEOs' weapons.

I still think there should be an investigation. Seems like the police did overreact at a few points.

The police reports about "there were shots fired" were all meant to mislead us - cuz the only shots fired were from the police. Think there was also a bit of CYA there.

Though, It might be, you can't give people the benefit of the doubt any more when it comes to security issues.

They could do it under the risk to public safety clause. Claim because there aren't any sherif rangers around to check the place out once a month, that the campgrounds are now a hazard to the public.

It is possible, but then why weren't the private parks, and the unsupervised areas of parks closed last few times? This is something new.

Speaking of Bizarro Planet News, the ABC reporters made sure to mention that those trigger happy WH cops who just got done killing an unarmed mother in front of her child, are "heros who aren't getting paid because of the shutdown".

I have a question that I have not seen asked;

First of all I understand that this is about showing who is in charge but showing who can cause pain ( I have an Orwell quote about that).

My question is "What does you lease say and why did you sign it?"

** Shall we assume that Mr. Meyer has been offed?

OT but bizarrely, this page ("1984" on the george-orwell site) is blocked by my work software for being "malicious." No doubt those naughty Tea-partiers were sneaking their propaganda into government training manuals, again.
