They aren't getting in the way any more than the police unions are.

"There's the evidence of the blood spatters and shell casings"

First, Wilson's shell casings won't say anything about Browns, movement.

Second from what I read, the blood spatter evidence was inconclusive on how fast Brown was moving. It's just as consistent with Brown walking slowly towards Wilson as charging. There weren't any direct witnesses to the shooting itself.

"On trying to grab the gun, are you saying that Brown simply reached in
and hit Wilson, then tried to stop him when he reached for his gun to
defend himself?"

Or possibly Wilson started to draw on Brown who reached in to grab the gun and then slugged Wilson.

Again, there is only Wilson to testify to the precise order of events.

But that's not the point. The point is that they physical evidence of the injury to Brown from the shot fired in the squad car is inconsistent with Wilson's account of what happened. No one trying to take a gun away from an officer to use on that officer would grab the gun where the physical evidence says Brown grabbed it.

I'm certainly no fan of unions. All too often, the way they 'add value' to their members is by protecting the worst (since the best and even the average are generally valued enough to be treated well).
