Beware the New Ipods
A little while ago I wrote a post to say I was excited by the new generation of IPods. I was ready to replace my 30GB v5.5 iPod classic with an 80GB that has the same form factor. I am still hoping the iPod Touch (think iPhone without the phone) will turn out to be great, but there is a LOT of bitching out there about the new IPod classics. Apparently, in a bid to make the interface prettier, it has become a lot slower (kindof like Vista). Also, apparently some of the video functionality has been nerfed. Research before you buy! For example, check out the Amazon reviews.

Aww, crap. I just bought one. That will teach me. Though, my understanding is that you can turn off the album images, which is what slows stuff down.

I've heard there is already a software update that fixes some of this UI slowness. More frustrating though is the incompatibility of previously purchased games.

I believe our dear ol' Coyote has been a MMORPG player at some point.
"Nerfing" is when a particular ability or feature of a type of character in a MMORPG has been toned-down or removed in order to make the game play more fair. In otherwords, their awesomely powerful ability is replaced with a Nerf(tm) version of the same ability.

I have an iPod Color. The first iPod with a color screen, I can scroll through my 5000 songs buttery smooth. But I was playing with the new iPod Classic, and while it is thinner, has a bigger screen and more "eye-candy," there is no chance I'll trade my old reliable iPod for the new one. I was using the scroll wheel in the Apple Store and it was so jerky. I guess the difference is that now Apple has to sell an 80GB iPod with a color screen for $250, whereas when I bought my comparable (for the time) iPod they were selling for $450. Gotta cut down that margin somewhere, I think the new iPods are simply built cutting every corner possible. Good business move for Apple.

The IBoob will cost $499 or $599 depending on size.
This is considered to be a major breakthrough because women are always complaining about men staring at their breasts and not listening to them.
