Paul Krugman Weather Forecasting

Paul Krugman has become pretty famous for being able to peer into the complex economy and find something to justify whatever he is promoting.  Higher interest rates, lower interest rates, more growth, less growth, unemployment, or boom times all simultaneously are proof of whatever theory he currently holds (which, in turn, is generally exactly the theory required to support actions by the Democratic leadership).

In the same way -- hot weather, cold weather, drought, wet weather, mild weather, lost of hurricanes, a lack of hurricanes -- are all simultaneously the proof for man-made global warming.  Whatever the weather currently is, someone can use a government grant to build a model to prove that it is due to anthropogenic global warming.  Thus this story -- Global warming causing freezing.

Thanks for sharing Warren. Sounds to me like the earth's climate is self-correcting. Wouldn't be surprised to see the Arctic ice cap rebuild because of cooling pattern. Can these egomaniacs admit that they can no more predict climate conditions in 20 years than they can next week's weather in Boston. The arrogance of these people is stunning.

So, Krugman = global warming = hot weather = cold weather = freezing weather = Britain frigid winter = misery, destruction and death = headlines for papers = more news articles for papers = money for editorial writers.

Krugman = more money for editorial writers, er, like Krugman.

    Cleared that up.

Next up Krugman is not wearing pants, film at 11.

so, let me get this straight:

highly reflective white ice, which bounces a huge percentage of light and heat back away from earth (albedo) is replaces by dark ocean that can absorb nearly infinite heat and somehow this causes cooling?

how curious that this contradicts all the other climate models.

seems this gang has found a way to stand on both sides of the street at the same time.

I bet this article has been already everywhere:

I guess there has been a tipping point, and global warming is now causing colder winters in Northern and Western Europe. I liked it better when it was getting warmer.

We have old news, spun a different way, with "global warming" inserted as the cause of a current weather phenomenon.

Back in 1999, scientists formulated a theory about the event where warming that began during the Ice Age 10,000 years ago and ended 8,200 years, created a melting that sent the ice sheets retreating back toward the pole. The melted water released caused a several-centuries-long cold spell into the North Atlantic. These scientists speculated that a melt of the Greenland glacier might well have a similar climate change effect now.

Low and behold, the AGW kooks who probably used the public dole to develop the latest computer model to be used for the purpose of dispensing climate doom, have neither acknowledged the work of Colorado and Canadian scientists noted above, nor have they figured out that the climate warming immediately following the Ice Age was not caused by man.

It's really amazing to see environmentalist's brains try to tread water with their ideas in the face of such drastically opposing data!

Tony Robbins said that the most powerful force in all of mankind is a man's will to remain consistent with his beliefs!

    Touche Mr. Robbins.

In related news, the very SAME *highly reputable* sources advise that The Grinch is out to STEAL CHRISTMAS.

Peons are advised to keep all their Xmas Gifties in a big vault at the Bank of Whoville, in their security
box along with their carefully hoarded Carbon Tax Credits.

Global warming caused water evaporation which in turn lead to greater precipipation, who knew? Winter still occurs in a warmer globe, who knew? Then again, hail only occurs in wintertime and refrigerators don't work (they really ice-boxes and elves fill it up with ice sourced from polar region when you're asleep).

    > how curious that this contradicts all the other climate models.

Give it time, morganovich, give it time.

They haven't had time to adjust the fudge factors in their models yet. Heck, this may even require a whole NEW fudge factor, which will no doubt be lauded as a major enhancement to the model's accuracy!

    =====

The SAD thing is, the above snark will likely turn out to be TRUE.

    But...there's a consensus!

Would that be a "lock box"? Incidentally, I heard the Bank of Whoville took TARP money.

Interesting claim. The guys from Potsdam forgot to mention that here has to be a 30-90 day lag of some kind in their model as the arctic ice cover as of Nov 22nd was just as prevalent as that of the 1980-2000. There have been recent summers where the ice extent has been lower that of the average for the past 20-30 years, but there has not been any lag in the recovery of the cover of any note. Maybe the current ice is warmer on its surface than prior? Neat trick.

It was necessary to change Global Warming to Climate Change/Global Cooling/Coming Ice Age because people just weren't frightened enough by the thought of warm weather, longer growing seasons, happier plants. Now, the thought of Man having to grow his corn, wheat and tomatoes in giant greenhouses, THAT's scary.

Solution: retire and bury Global Warming; birth Climate Change/etc. NOWWWW will you let us tax your carbon emissions?
