There is a great dive site in Sydney for seeing "Weedy Sea dragons" on Botany bay right where Captain Cook landed.

I have to agree that the Dragons are about the best thing in the Monterey Aquarium. They are truly amazing and the camouflage almost perfect. They are basically baroque seahorses, but amazing to watch. The jellyfish are interesting if you've not grown up around them and had painful encounters with some varieties.

I haven't been out there since Jay and I got married and I moved out here to MA. Makes me a little homesick...I was used to Monterey being convenient. I took him to the aquarium when he was out there and we still talk about taking the kids someday. It's just stunning.

  4. Mad Rocket Scientist:

I was there last October. It's a great aquarium!

  5. Fazer Msn:

Sea dragons are not only dangerous but also a species bound to control the seas, mark my words. I'm visiting the aquarium next May, hope it's worth it.

FYI the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach California has them too. In fact they were first bred there, getting credit for first breeding outside of Australia.

    Seahorses rock!
