    My most frequent comment to my wife about such things is, "Oh! That's today?" (with a twinge of panic).

    Far worse when I visit my mother. "You remember so-and-so from Kay Street"? My brothers and I just look at each other.

    "Uh, no Mom. I moved out of this town for good 25 years ago and don't remember your old-lady friends if I ever knew them."
